Brandi's Baby Shower

How cute are the elephants? The elephants were Abby's idea and I think they turned out so adorable!

Mmmm... three layers of chocolate cake!!!

My favorite little elephant!
Cupcakes weren't originally part of the plan for the baby shower... but when you have 48 cupcakes fresh out of the oven, someone has to eat them. I was in the process of making 60 cupcakes and a small cake for a wedding shower Saturday when I got a call that the shower had been canceled.
What to do? First things first--Mollie, Tyler and I all sampled one out of the oven, just to make sure they were good : ) Next step, find a place (other than my belly) for the rest of them. After talking to Beth we decided to make a smaller chocolate cake and chocolate cupcakes and use some of the vanilla cupcakes for Brandi's shower.

All around perfect for a baby shower.

Packed and ready to make the trip to Lexington!

Such a pretty table!

Happy Birthday Emily!!!

Happy Birthday Emily!!!

Another surprise cake!!!
If you know me or have read my blog, you know I think surprises are the greatest thing ever--so, of course I liked this one!

I LOVE making 21st birthday cakes because that was my reason for starting to make cakes. Given they have come a long way since then, they are still fun to make. Sorry to all my friends who received "not so cute" cakes but thank you for letting me learn at your expense--at least they tasted good : )

Celebration of Brides!!!

Cake it Pretty made a debut today at the Celebration of Brides! Mollie went with me and we had a blast. Check out all the pics of our set up and be sure to look through all of the other cakes if this is your first visit to my blog!

We loved our table! Even though our effort in getting things together was last minute, we were very proud. Thanks to Beth for helping us load/unload things, decorating, and sticking around to chat for a bit!

Me and my "assistant"/taste tester/roomie/partner in crime!!! We matched completely--from our cardigans, to our necklaces, to our shoes!

I LOVE Cake it Pretty!!!

Our table!!! Special shout out to Alex for picking out such pretty paper for the frames... you can't really see it from the picture but they had a white paisley design and were PERFECT!

The cake side of the table... We had soooo many mini cupcakes!!!
Not only did we have enough for people there, but more importantly we had enough for us to munch on all day! We kept wanting an even number so I took care of the white and Mollie ate the chocolate!
Hey, it was a long day, we needed fuel (it just happened to be in the form of sugar!)

The cake viewing side of the table... the small frame was digital and showed some of our favorite wedding, grooms, and shower cakes!

Successful day for Cake it Pretty! One of the best parts was meeting Ashton Oakes!!!

She is a local photographer and is so sweet! She joined us in taking care of the cupcakes... check out her website.

Back to caking...

It's been a while...

By the end of last semester, I was ready for a break from most everything (including caking). I did some baking over Christmas break, but stayed away from cake decorating. Now that school has started back, I am getting back into my normal routine. Even though I don't have much extra time for cakes, I have a few coming up that I am really excited about.

Until then, check out this Star Wars lego cake!

It was chocolate cake with chocolate icing (my "samplers" definitely approved)!

Lisa-- if you look at this, I thought of sweet little Miller when I was making this and his LOVE for Star Wars!
